The following directions guide a user through the process of setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app on a mobile device for multifactor authentication (MFA).
To successfully complete this process, users will need two devices—either a computer and a mobile device, or two mobile devices.
Please note that your mobile device will need to be connected to a network or have cellular service to receive prompts for login approval.

Sign into your NWFSC account using a Microsoft login. This can be the login for RaiderNet, Outlook, or any service that uses Microsoft for authentication.
Specifically, you may navigate to the following link to sign into your NWFSC account:

To log in, enter your NWFSC email address and password.

Once you successfully enter your credentials, you will see a prompt that states “Let’s keep your account secure” as shown below:

On a mobile device, download the Microsoft Authenticator app using the built-in App Store on your device.
The icon for the Microsoft Authenticator appears as follows:

Click “Next” on your computer and follow the prompts until you see a QR code on your computer screen as shown below:

Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and approve notifications when prompted.

Open the app on your mobile device. When you see the following screen, tap “Scan a QR Code” as shown below:

After you scan the QR code, your Microsoft Authenticator app will display your NWFSC account as follows:

Using your computer, click “Next” on the QR code prompt, and you will be given a two-digit code to enter in the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Enter the digits to approve the sign-in request. If this operation was successful, you should see the following:

You will now be able to use the Microsoft Authenticator app as your multifactor authentication method when logging into NWFSC resources. Click “Done” to finish.
